Quite true, and Scott's solution is a very good one. I was merely pointing
out the history of using high tunings for guitar pitch conversion, and how
it was taken to an extreme (all high E strings).

Since you process only the 3 "low" strings, Harry, you might try a 3/3
approach where the E, A, and D strings are tuned up an octave.
