imho the 33ms latency will be very real and perceptable. I used to use a DDL to
time
align my MIDI guitar synth (so the straight guitar and synth attack at the same
time).
With percussive sounds the 33ms is into slap echo range.

I'd say 16ms would be the max... and that still needs memory shortening for the
chip. I'd continue down that route
