[sdiy] IN your mind, what is ....

Ah! i don't have my TTL Cookbook anymore but D.L.'s CMOS cookbook has a
thing that is often referred to as the "Lancaster Poly". It's a TOG
driving dividers with weighted summing to produce Stairstepped Saw's
which he key's with '3080's. He also uses a PWM AR envelope to control
the keyers.
Southwest Technical made PCB's of this device. I inherited one (pay'd
$75.00 actually) that the constructor gave up on (too bad as he built it
found it sounded like an organ and despaired. A 4046 Master Reference
driven by 2 PAIA sequencers, a State Variable Filter and Final VCA (made
with CLM6500's) made it sound pretty cool. Later added another TOG to
drive every other note with independent LFO for the 4046's that drove
the TOG's (neat idea that sounded not so good except with the most
subtle LFO).
regards,
p

There is a synth block diagram in The TTL Cookbook, page 319. I have
not built it.
It looks like the idea is to use a TOG to clock a counter feeding
outputs to a mux that selects one of 16 pots that form the basis of a
waveform
generator by stepping through the voltages created by the pots. It
appears a similar technique is suggested for generating an envelope.
I do believe that there are more robust designs coming from this forum.
If this were to be attempted, it would be better to do it with CMOS
instead of TTL.
