There is a synth block diagram in The TTL Cookbook, page 319. I have not
built it.
It looks like the idea is to use a TOG to clock a counter feeding outputs
to a mux that selects one of 16 pots that form the basis of a waveform
generator by stepping through the voltages created by the pots. It
appears a similar technique is suggested for generating an envelope.
I do believe that there are more robust designs coming from this forum.
If this were to be attempted, it would be better to do it with CMOS
instead of TTL.
