I just meant to "heckle" you in friendly way for not more enthusiastically
encouraging some DIY activity--considering the fact that this is a DIY
list. ;) I certainly hope my words didn't come across as some sort of
scolding or something.
If a tube emulation plugin makes the person happy, that's great. I just
don't think it will sound like the real thing. Then again, perhaps it might
not need to sound like the real thing--perhaps it just needs to sound good
in its own way.
As for emulating real tube sound and distortion, I think the software
plugins leave a LOT of room for improvement. If anyone knows of a VST
plugin that really nails tube sound and distortion, please tell me about
it. I'd like to try it out.
