I understand the suggestion of a convolution reverb plugin earlier in this
thread, especially since most of us aren't going to be building one of
those in hardware form. However, I can barely believe that someone on
Synth-DIY suggested using a tube emulation plugin. It's not hard to build a
real tube preamp circuit and have much more authentic results than a
typical tube emulation plugin. I realize that for some people, patching it
into their DAW might be at slightly awkward, depending on your exact
computer hardware setup and on exactly what you are trying to do. However,
I would recommend using real tubes--if you can patch them into your setup.
