While I don't hesitate to leave my Tek 500 series 'scope's on for an
extended period of time, I hesitate to leave an HP 'scope on
overnight. Several years ago, I left a HP 1707B 'scope on overnight,
and the HV transformer burned out... it took me years to find a
replacement transformer! I just found the replacement part this past
year. The only problem now is that I don't have a schematic and don't
remember which wires from the HV PCB connect where.
Besides, with about 50 glowing tubes/valves, the older Tektronix
'scopes are nice room heaters in the winter. :-)
