[sdiy] which oscilloscope?

For home (i.e. DIY) work I am quite happy with a cheap 20MHz analog
scope...brand new, they only cost about $400...on the more expensive side,
pretty much anything that Tektronix ever made is pretty good...some are
better than other, but overall, I have been pretty happy with
Tektronix. You can probably locate some good deals on Tek scopes
(used). HP scope, on the other hand (puts on flame retardant suit)....I
would tend to stay away from....except for their combo Scope/Logic
analyzer...can't remember the model number...but those are quite nice.
The reality is that in general, you don't need much of a scope for DIY
synth stuff, and I would stick with analog scopes if you can...they tell
the truth a lot better (digital scopes can lie through their teeth)....
