I use an opamp to buffer with a variable gain of less than 1. This is followed
by a filter network to filter out sub- and super- sonic noise, oscillations etc.
THe filter output feeds an AC coupled signal referenced to the modular system
ground rail.

The filter was added after destroying a speaker with a signal I couldn't hear.
