I've had great luck with using 2 resistors soldered inside a passive attenuator assembly made of a 1/4 plug to 1/4 inline socket with a coax in between. The series resistor goes in the socket and the shunt resistor goes in the plug. The modular system voltage levels are so high that it's easy to select resistors that hardly affect the output impedance.
