The XR2206,XR2207, and the 8038 are all only suitable for LFO applications, in my opinion. They do not have sufficient linearity for a pitch source. the 8038 comes the closest. If you do not care about accurate pitch, any of these will make nice oscilators. The 2206 has some nice features, such as a built in multiplier for doing AM...
