At least we PAL users may hook a modular to a video system...
Velleman, Belgium have a proc amp kit which would easily transform into a 
video encoder/decoder.

You may feed it with any video signal, perhaps blackburst from your 
production facility master clock, and get sync out. An LM1881 will do that 
trick too. Sync up your bank of favourite oscillators and feed them right 
into the RGB input of the video encoder. Ta-daaa you may now follow in the 
footsteps of Tangerine Dream, Severed Heads and more...

Not too expensive either. I paid around 120 euro for the kit. I will place 
it behind a 6HE/14TE panel with all signals in and out tied to 75ohm BNCs 
at the front.
