Not quite on the thread, but if you want clock pulses
that are ahead & behind of where you expect them, you
could have a sawtooth that covers N timing pulses, and
have the pulses themselves generated by N comparators
looking at the sawtooth & each generating one of the pulses.
I suppose a random voltage added to the sawtooth would cause
pulses to occur sooner or later than expected.
Certainly you could get a pretty arbitrary swing this way.
