If you want it to replace old 50240 chips, then be sure that it can be
externally clocked. Some list members have talked about doing a similar type
of thing, but using a fixed-frequency master clock (such as a CPU clock
crystal). This would be useless in most repair applications, not to mention
any DIY app where you might want to modulate/vibrato the master pitch, or
just have some simple master tuning control.
