Or even two different metals simply connected together with a
temperature difference - thermoelectric/Seebeck effect.
I wonder if this is of any significance in electronic circuits where an
IC is running hotter than the rest of the circuit, and there is a
temperature gradient between the IC legs and PCB tracks thru the solder
joint.
