This can and does cause problems to high accuracy instrumentation
measurements. Sometimes great lengths are gone to stop this from
happening. Microwave detection is/was done in a sealed box often with
some sort of temp control. Not only to control the problems with the
detector itself but with disimilar metal junction effects.
I think this has probably changed since my days at temp control in the
late 80s. I guess they will have some sort of quick software driven
recalibration now.
The seebeck effect is pretty small and other factors are far more
important in most cases.
