Consious perception of completely independent events ? Maybe.

Then we have the unconcious stuff that we cannot resolve, but still
perceive.

And then we have the phasing between two similar, but delayed events:
It makes a hell of a difference if you switch on similar sounds with 100Hz
at the same time, or with a delay of 5ms ... The hammond example
fails here, I know. I got some great phasing effects from my K1 with just
layering two identical sounds, however. (Culprit here is the K1, not Midi.)

That's because resolution and perception are two different things.
Human beings can feel a lot of things, without being able to nail 
them down.

10ms - means perfect cancellation for two identical  50Hz (+ harmonics) sounds

10ms - means an increase of  3 meters distance  from your sound source

10ms change of predelay in a small room reverb emulation makes a difference.
