Bingo! The four other pins were to hold it in place, connected to ground so
it wouldn't pop when you touch it to slide it. Works well with rotary pots.
When I swapped them in I noticed that for the depth and delay settings more
resistance = more depth/delay so I swapped in larger value pots and
increased the range quite a bit!
