I went into that same store a long time ago when I was building Tom G's
Therman and I needed a 4049 hex inverting buffer... They wanted $15 bucks
for it!!!!
There is a pretty cool electronics store on Canal St., I can't remember the
exact address but I think it's between B'way and Lafayette, North side of
the streer. You go into one of those stores that sells fake designer bags
and stuff and lo and behold in the back there's a Chinese guy at a counter
with a little electronics shop. He had transistors and Ic's organized in
shoe boxes the last time I was there if I remember correctly. There's also
a pretty interesting stock of weird surplus parts, some of which I"ve looked
at as possible cool interface possibilities. Next time I'm down there I'll
figure out the address...
