A friend of mine built some of his rig in those heavy duty plastic milk
crates. They are not sealed (they have a cross-hatch design in back), but
they are almost indestructible and stackable. Seattle has these recycle bins
that they have recently made obsolete (except for glass - new carts for
paper and plastic) and these are even better cause they are built the same
except are a larger 18" x 14". Another angle is looking in 2nd hand stores
for old wooden trunks and luggage. I had a Sequencer built into a great
wooden briefcase size case. The cover came off too. I once owned a Oberheim
4-voice that was so big it was like carrying a coffin around. I looked at
Bass guitar cases and found a case that was deep enough for the SEMs and
keyboard. Never made it though. Old music instrument cases work well cause
they have good corners and hinges. A baritone Sax case is a good size. Pawn
shops and music stores that do rentals sometimes have leftovers (the horn
got trashed etc.). Great stuff and has a great "character".
