KAC availability?

KAC availability?

2006-10-17 by Wavecomputer360

Hi all,

how easy is it to obtain spare KAC 26600/26700 (type?) ICs for the CS80? Hopeless case, or are there still sources?

Thanks,

Stephen.

Hi Stephen,

I think your out of luck, i havent seen any CS series chips available for a
while, id check Senso and Ranger audio (i think thats there name in Canada)

Alternatively youll need to find a cheap CS50 or CS60 and strip it for
parts. Having said that you dont really see cheap CS50s or CS60s any more..

Has you KAC failed?

Regards,
Rob.

Hi Rob,

my CS is still working, luckily [*knocks on wood*] but I´m after another one
which doesn´t play. Apparently the KAC have been blown by some git who
didn´t know what he was doing when attempting to tune it, thus he touched
the instrument with no proper grounding, and static electricity apparently
did the rest... alright, no point in spending heaps of money on something
that can no longer be fixed. What a bloody shame, this makes me really,
really sick.

Ta,

Stephen

are you talking about the one on ebay, germany?
i have been mailing to this guy. it seems to me that
he plays the ignorant, like "i don't know what is broken,
but parts can be probably sourced from yamaha"...
yeah right. at least he admits that it might be the KAS...
but i thought oldcrow had a replacement for the KAS board.?

I do have some of these in stock both th YM26600 and the YM26700. If you
wan't one give us a shout.
However I don't see how this guy has killed either of these IC's. They are
not static sencitive and you would have to be really really stupid to be
able to blow one. Yes it is possible but not earthing yourself before
calibrating is bull plop.

Hi Kent:
I'm searching for those chips for a long time (I posted here
asking for them before).
If you have one of each, I want them.
I'll send you a mail.
Thanks.
