Thanks to Juergen and Crow

2005-12-27 by Max Fazio

I want to publicly thank Juergen Haible and Scott "Crow" Rider for having enlighted me about the Expression circuit and about some aspects in the touch response.

BTW: I found many patents about the CSs and GX1 on the USPTO site, it seems that the work involved many people, there are different sources for the KAS, the Touch response, Expression circuit etc, surely Tetsuo "Phil" Nishimoto is among them, he's responsible for the Touch response patent.

CS-80 Dust Cover

2005-12-29 by Scott Metzger

Can anyone recomend a dust cover that fits? No music store that I have been
to seems to have anything that fits.

Thanks

My wife, smart cookie that she is, found the perfect and inexpensive
solution: a fitted sheet for the bottom of a crib (insert crib sheet
joke here). I think she may have purchased it at Target a few years
back. The size was just right to cover the beast and, since it was
meant to wrap around a mattress, the elastic band hugged around the
bottom on the synth nicely. Though my CS-80 is gone, I still have the
cover for use with another device -- I'll look at it later and see if it
has any useful info on the tag.

My parents have a lake home in a rural area. People there are self-
sufficient craftsmen. We found an upholsterer that made me some
custom fitted clear plastic dust covers for all my keyboards. They're
really pretty thick plastic material - will practically stand up on
their own. Clear stitching of the seams completes the package.

The great thing is, they do their job as dust cover but are completely
transparent, allowing you to see your keyboards through them when you
walk through the studio. Kind of a bummer having a beauty like a CS80
covered up, such that you only can see it when you take a fabric cover
off to play.

One piece of advice: wait awhile to put the cover back on after it's
been powered up for any period of time (to let the heat dissipate out
the top.

Thats a good idea.. One thing I am weary about is puting fabric down that
might adjust the global sliders without me knowing.. Kinda sucks when you
loose a good setting in the global functions, and the Modulation Speed can
be very sensitive.. Even taking a picture won't get you 100 percent there.

But there is no way in hell I am going to move the CS80 to have someone fit
it for measurements.

Oops -- I never got back to this. The fitted crib sheet tag says "baby
tykes" on it and has a URL (parentinformation.com) which is fairly
useless. I confirmed with my wife that she purchased the sheet at
Target a few years back. This one is baby blue, but I'm sure that
doesn't matter. When its elastic corners are stretched out, it measures
roughly 5' x 4' -- I hope that helps some!
