Yamaha CS80

Hi all.

I’ve noticed in the last few weeks that I can’t get anything to work if I try and access the CS80 (or other) Yahoo group via the web page. No matter what I click, it just says “Loading…” and does nothing. I can’t do anything - see messages, members, files, photos. I mostly access the group via email but if I need to do any moderator stuff, I’m stuck.

Are groups going away?

I had the same problem when that new NEO look was introduced few
months ago. Then it slowly disappeared and now it works normally on my
old G4 PPC Mac with OSX 10.5.8, and Safari, which I use for internet
access. Maybe they improved something after numerous complaints. So
I'm surprised to hear there's still problem.

When there was that problem with Loading..., I have found that it's
enough just to stop loading the page immediately after that message
appears (right side in the window with the address) and that page I
wanted to see suddenly comes. Then go back to the previous directory
by browser arrows, not by selecting directories in yahoo group.

Despite it works now at my side I don't like new look, and another
problem is it's not possible to see a date when the file was uploaded.
I have tried to make screen smaller, no chance to get it. And there
are no scrolling buttons for shifting the page horizontally. Terrible.
That was not the best idea from their side to change the design this
way.

It is nearly impossible for me to do anything (search, reply to messages) in the new yahoo groups using safari in 10.8.5. Firefox however does work.

This does not take away the other negative aspects of the totally annoying new interface and the obnoxious way that every small step takes a number of other steps to complete.

Perfect example of changing something that works just to be able to say you changed something.

And before they did it they didn't ask anybody if we wanted it. Such
arrogance.

Thanks for the feedback. I tried using a stripped down Chromium Portable on my Mac and it didn't get stuck at the "loading" message.

I actually looked into building my own forum on my ISP using the PHP they provide but don't have the experience or time to set it up. I'd love to get the group off Yahoo. Anyone here know about setting up forums? We'd need the features (email access, files and photos uploads) that Yahoo has. I'm on Bluehost if it matters.

Hello David,

I hate forums and I love mail lists. But tat is my taste. The unbeatable
advantage of yahoo, is that they combine the web interface of a forum
with the simplicity of a mail list. There is no replacement for
yahoogroups.com (In our company we looked for some equivalent, but we
didn't find anything - even not commercially).

I have the same opinion. Sometimes I read some forums, but still
didn't send even one message there...
