Easy access to the rear jacks on a CS80???

Easy access to the rear jacks on a CS80???

2013-09-05 by Mooseheads

Greetings to all,

I am currently at the early stage of restoring a really beat up CS80. It has many issues one of them being that the HI/LOW switch in the back is MISSING completely... I don't know if it was rewired some way or an other as it is very hard to see under the "protective" plastic covering the on the inside.
I have been contemplating the possibilities as to how to get to it... Any ideas anyone???

Good luck Martin! Yep - getting to stuff behind the card cage is a pain. First thing I'd do it remove the top by unscrewing the hinges (which is also hard to get at!). There's enough slack in the cables so you can stand the top panel on its side next to the keyboard. Lift up the card rack and unscrew the key-bed frame. The hinges that let you tilt up the key-bed can be slipped out by angling the assembly and then you can slide the whole thing forward a bit - not too far with all the wires coming off at both sides. That should let you get in and remove the cover over the switch.

I had to replace one of these a couple of years ago that was destroyed. I couldn't find a slide switch that was the same size and ended up using a DPDT toggle switch instead. Let us know if you find a replacement - assuming you need one.

I just created a new photo album and uploaded some pics from when I replaced this switch:

Thank you David for the detailed answer, I will get going "Slowly" through the process. On an other note, one of the rubber aftertouch sensor is missing (ouch) do you know of any replacement possibility?

Thanks again for the guide walkthrough!
