Monthly Reminder about group features/Welcome for new members

Monthly Reminder about group features/Welcome for new members

2005-07-03 by David Rogoff

Hi all.

About once a month (oops - it's been about 6 months...) I'll send out
this quick reminder about what's
available in this Yahoo CS80 group. There are several new members in
the group - welcome! The first thing to do is look at the Messages
page to see what everyone has been talking about the last few months.
There are over 200 messages, covering dozens of topics!

Under Files, there are some mp3s of tunes featuring CS80. They're
pretty low bit rate to make the files small. Please suggest other
songs that show off the CS80. There are also some pics and a
spreadsheet related to the messages about the CS80 pressure sensors.

Under Database, I created a really simple, easy to use, list of CS80s
known to people on the list. Please take a minute and enter your
keyboards! It's very quick and easy.

Under Links, I have bunch of links to info about the CS80, both
technical and about artists who use them. Please send me other links
to add!

The Photos section has a pictures of some CS80s owned by group members
(many more of mine, inside and out, at www.therogoffs.com/cs80).
Feel free to put in some pics of instruments, or people (including
you) playing.

And, for those of you who deal with this list via email, don't forget
to check the site at
http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/yamahacs80. In addtion to the
stuff I just listed, you can also see an archive of past messages.

Please send me any suggestions about changes or additions to this
site to make it better and more useful.

And, of course, start discussions about our favorite synth! What's
your favorite feature? Sound? Band/artist that uses it? Where did
you first hear/play one? If you have one, what do you play on it?

Thanks,

David

Wanted: CS-80 owners/users for beta test

2005-07-06 by Tommy Priakos

Hi David and group,

Arturia will be needing the help of CS-80 users to test the next version of their CS-80V, and they are willing to offer a 30% discount should you be interested in purchasing a copy (the reason for that is it'll unfortunately require a dongle key).  Testing will commence sometime after the start of 2006. I've already written to Mr. Oudin and have been placed on the list. I know it's a ways off still, but they may limit the number of testers, so in this case the early bird gets the dongle at a discount. I hope to contribute by offering wav files, but I know some of you have CS-80s in better nick than mine, so your wav files would only enhance the outcome for the new improved version.

Yes, I've just been emailing with Xavier about this (Max told me about
it). I need to clear up with him about when a discount would be
available (his English isn't 100%, although it's a thousand times better
than any of my foreign languages!).

I'm also confused about the pricing. The Arturia online store has CS80v
for $249, which would be $174. I see copies of it from various online
stores for between $150 and $200, which kind of ruins the allure of the
30% discount. Any thoughts on this?

David

If I had a CS-80 I would have buried myself and the keyboard with a full of scopes and analyzers....

Hi David
For what I could understand there will be a different approach to this 2.0 update; I was told some time ago that Arturia would have been introducing a new copy protection system, dunno wheter a dongle or else but the former is very likely I think, and many of the fundamentals will be modified, so I guess (absolutely) that when it will be the time they will give you a preliminary version of the synth , then when the beta will be through they will apply a 30% discount on the final release ( which I wouldn't take advantage of, since I haven't a CS at home :-(   ) , which price would get at least 1 and 1/2 year to go down ( what I've waited to buy a copy myself )....anyway I think that writing to xavier.oudin@... , frederick.brun@... or fabrice.paumier@...   will help you and whoever interested clearing out some doubts.
