Nice one, Laurie!I found some interesting videos
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3PLjAKDPOw
CS10 going nuts while feeding back its own output into the EXT in

Same synth with drum machine triggering the filter
Enjoy!

Subject: [yamahacs80] External input

Hi allI was wondering what use did the owners here made of the external modulation input, I mean did anybody try to modulate the CS80 through a drum machine, or another synthesizer or, crazily, feeding back the output of the 80 itself? I only heard examples from a CS30 but can't be the same, as the ext input can be enabled also to trigger the envelopes there; so I'd like to hear some stories from the brave people who let their CS go crazy...Thx for any reply!

M

On the CS50, I use another polysynth (jp8) to feed the external input. Octaves and fifths provide more the most musical modulation, especially when modulating VCA. I find VCF modulation to be better for noisy percussive sounds, and VCO modulation for something more sublte.

An interesting modulation source is an arpeggiated bass line in octaves of fifths of the note played on the CS50. This can create some interesting textures that still have coherent harmonic content. Pretty darn close to a polyphonic modular, really.

I'm impressed with the CS's frequency range.

Re[2]: R: Re: [yamahacs80] External input

I mentioned before, I like outputing the CS80 to a leslie and then miking the horn back into the CS80 sub osc input to add overdrive with the brilliance Amplitude and level....the cycle of rotating horn amplifies the distortion only as the horn faces the mike
