Making Progress but need HELP

Making Progress but need HELP

2011-04-16 by dzlvs8

Well I have a stuck note and rooted it down to my 4016 IC. Luckily online info helped me focus in that area and I verified that the 4016 isnt working right. BUT where can I get a suitable replacement for the 4016BP IC on the sample and hold circuit.

Please please please please help me out. I cant find anything. Im about to go to radio shack and buy a LM324 Quad Op Amp

......and I'm pretty sure that will ruin some more stuff.

Where are you based?
In the UK you can get the 4016 at Maplins and CPC/Farnell.
Cheers,
TOM

I'm in the United States. There are no stores around me thst have the part.
I am trying to find the part online. On mouser.com I found an HEF4026BP
chip. I don't know if that would work though. I can't find the exact
TC4016BP chip. I don't know what exactly I can use.

I love you Andy! I've only got a few more issues before everything is
fixed now. I'm still only able to get the other three oscillators in tune
on one of the four octave setting. I'm thinking ai just need to tweak some
stuff on the TKS board or I need to mess with VR1 on the voice card for the
note that doesn't sound good.

The other problem is that portamento doesn't work. but its stuck on fast
for one note and.is annoying. I can't turn it off or change ramp speed.
Once in a great while I can mess with it and get it to do a long portamento
slide but only once. and only on that one note.

Any ideas on where to start looking?

Sounds like some of the TKS offsets are not right. Re-check with a good quality multimeter

Do you have a scope? I can tell you what might be wrong, but you will probably need to trace it.

I have a good calibrated fluke multimeter but I don't have a scope. What
problem do you think the offsets on the TKS board are causing? The tuning
differences when using the transpose buttons or the portamento?

I'm thinking of replacing all the 4000 cmos chips on the tks and sh board
and then seeing what's up but I feel the transpose tuning is a calibration
issue (vr5-9 on tks board). I really have no.clue on the portamento.

Perfect. Fluke are very good.

I will have to investigate further. If you have the original trimmers there it is a good idea to change those with a high quality one (i use Bourns 25 turn cermet ones as replacement where possible) - the original ones will fluctuate with temperature and any movement.

I would definitely advise you to do the repairs (much as Gavin has done) before attempting a tune up.
