Hi all
As on object: anybody has the datasheet? The one from Yamaha IC chips is poorly detailed and ther is no diagram...
Thx for any help

If this IC is bad, it wouldn't be too difficult to find an alternative solution.

There is plenty of those in my house and in circulation you just have to look in the right places .( http://www.flickr.com/photos/31603983@N05/4776305351/ ) if you ever need one. In the OE2 schematic it is the clock that control the chorus bucket brigade MN3001 you better check the tc4049 hex buffer first(cmos) ???? is that the topic ???? the mn3001 datasheet give that circuit http://www.flickr.com/photos/31603983@N05/4776969718/

maybe i am way off topic !

Thx Gavin but I couldn't locate the chip on the site you mentioned!
Is the chip's ID the one you wrote, as a whole?

I had problems with my glissando/portamento, but resolved after replacing all the CMOS. The chip is a simple oscillator with square wave output. A 555 or other type of oscillator comprised of comparators could be made to work in exactly the same way. It would of course be a small separate board of multiple components and not as neat as the original BA617.

So not the end of the world if your truly have a bad BA617 and cannot locate a replacement.

I was not the individual who gave you other part numbers... although many versions of Japanese ICs SIP are still available.

But the SA617 may have extended bandwidth. It only uses 1 resistor and a single capacitor for a timing reference.

Test that the BA617 IC has proper voltages and grounds, the mylar timing capacitor is okay and that the resistor network is good. Disconnect the IC output from the circuit board. If the output pin still has no waveform, then BA617 is most likely dead.
