Preset Backlight Bulbs

Preset Backlight Bulbs

2009-04-07 by synthromey

Greetings,
Thanks for your access approval to this group. I'm happy to help others in anyway I can!! I, too, am in need of some assistance for my beloved Yamaha CS80. Maybe you can help?
The Strings 1 & 2 Presets no longer illuminate. We are having a difficult time trying to sus out how to remove, disassemble, open the housing that holds all of the bulbs for all the presets. Has anyone replaced these and could you tell me how this sort of rectangular housing is opened / removed to gain access to the bulbs?
Thanks,
Jerry

the lamps are probably t-3/4 14v , but didnt find them at allied electronic , there is a t-1 1/4 14v that look a bit bigger . and there is always the brightness issue .... you can buy a couple of different model and try them ,,, doesnt need to be allied , maybe mouser got the excact model , T model wires leaded lamp ( rice grain )

I found these grain of wheat bulbs from Electronic Goldmine to be the best match in the CS80: https://www.goldmine-elec-products.com/prodinfo.asp?number=G15581

These are smaller diameter than the original, but the voltage matches just right. If you have some original bulbs still working, you won't be able to see any difference in brightness.

Just center them in the little rubber clips and they work perfectly.
