Re: [yamahacs80] Performance : questions and a request

2006-08-17 by Max Fazio

Thx Laurie!
The doubt did spring off while listening to a Vangelis' improvisation and another track from some friends from Munich , aka Testrauschen: I listened to a sustained note ringing thru the ringmodulator , therefore the envelope started off with no note off in between: I can think that the player did apply a Sustain on the note so the note held on and the envelope triggered again ; could it be so?

Max.....the ring mod depth is the amount that the mono triggered
envelope of the modulator moves....if you have A or D set they are for
the time axis and the depth is for amount or level of modulation
pertaining to the envelope....I believe with regards to applying depth
after the triggering of the A D that the depth "will" change based on
where you are in the ongoing envelope cycle to the amount you are at
with the depth....If you turn off the depth during the cycle it lessens
the envelope depth to 0....Remember our talk about the Envelope only
occurring while a note was held down ????"With the slight hold time and
slight release ramp"??? in other words the sustain pedal on the release
times in the Carrier wave have no effect on the envelope release of the
ring mod....only Attack, Decay, the slight pause(note on), and the
release ramp(200ms?)affect the modulation...however secondary and
repetitive triggering during that env cycle continue the first
triggering all the way to the end of the decay cycle if they occur
within the 200ms "KEYoff" time .The repeating will affect the amplitude
of the carrier as occillators mix together but they are all effected by
  the modulator monophonically...
