Thanks. The tech in question has over 30 years experience and has serviced CS synths before. He has agreed to look at doing the mod, so just wants any information currently available to be provided if possible. Of course if either of us feels uncomfortable going forward with the mods then it won't go ahead.

I just was about writing the same. If a tech isn't able to find the the
right place for the mod in service manual, then he is not the right
tech. It does not mean, that he is a bad technician, but he is not
knowledged in the polyphonic CS-Series.
You wouldn't bring a Ferrari to a Toyota Garage for repair...
