Hi Steve, I am using Mill-Max gold plated sockets for all CMOS. With decoupling capacitor they are quite expensive. I would avoid using cheap sockets to be honest. You are restoring a piece of equipment that is worth around $10,000+ if it works perfectly. A couple of hundred dollars on sockets and capacitors is minimal when compared to the value of the unit. I can get you part numbers if you like.
