When I redid my CS80 a few years ago, I just soldered in caps myself, which was a lot of work. If I did it again, I'd probably use the sockets with built-in caps for about every 4th chip. The 14-pin with cap (Digikey ED2101-ND ) are $3.26 each for 10. The 14-pin without cap of the same quality (ED90033-ND ) are $1.02 each for 10. One pain with the CS80 is that the spacing between the rows on the circuit boards is slightly more than the standard 0.3". With bare DIP ICs, you can bend the leads to fit, but the sockets won't fit without breaking them at the top and bottom. David [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
