Re: [yamahacs80] the Tuss

2009-01-31 by T.M. Bois

Aphex Twin is an electronic music superstar--for what that's worth--and to suggest that nobody's heard his records or that he's underappreciated is a bit of a stretch. That said, I had never heard his Ambient collections until they were mentioned on this list and it's probably thanks to the "better than Eno" hyperbole that I bothered--so thank you! It's good stuff. Better than Eno? Apples and oranges--or at the very least, granny smith and honey crisp. Eno had a stronger or more distinctive melodic sensibility for sure. And I prefer the longer loops he used to Aphex's decidedly 90's short loops. And yes, I prefer the characteristic warmth of the 70s to the coldness of the 90s. But there's no denying Aphex has made some quality stuff and thankfully, there's room on my record shelf for both ;)

But its true up until now Aphex Twin has had no mention in this list--

SAW2 is the greatest record ever made with the Yamaha CS and nobody on

this list

ever mentions it or knows about it.?

Alex Paterson from the ORB is not surprised either and says his time

is about 20 years from now when people will start to discover his

records
