Re: A new Poly aftertouch controller??!?!?!!

2009-01-30 by David Rogoff

They finally have a good video up on Sonic State:
http://www.sonicstate.com/news/2009/01/29/wnamm09-polyphonic-aftertouch-in-a-folding-keyboard/

Should be out in May. Now we have to have them add a ribbon and a
bunch of sliders to it! Kind-of expensive, but to have a 29lb (~13kg)
Poly-Aftertouch keyboard that goes in a backpack that can be carried
put in an overhead on a plane is pretty cool!

Too bad you have to choose the key weight up front. I had a Peavy
years ago that had a big lever to adjust the entire action. I also
remember an very old article from Computer Music Journal about a
keyboard that used electromagnets to dynamically adjust the action,
including adding stuff like the click of a harpsichord jack hitting!
They only built a single octave worth and it looked like it weighed
50lbs just for that!
