xpander software revisions

Can anyone tell me the differences in Xpander software revisions? I
have just updated mine from 1.0/1.2 to 1.2/1.4. What improvements were
made?

Thanks, Phil.

Software revision 1.4 Operation Guide is 8 pages, a long list of changes and fixes.
Processor version is 1.2 and only the voice version is 1.4

I don´t have a scanner unfortunally.

I´m in germany ( but the guide is in english).
If we have someone from germany in the group w/ a fax and who is able to scan the docs and upload these, I offer to fax the guide.

let me know ...

Those docs are already online but it doesn't look like they are in
this Yahoo group, so I'll upload them.
I scanned them in back in 1996 or so, along with the newsletters for
the Xpander Users Group.

Hi,

On my Xpander, voice version shows 1.6. It was already 1.6 when I
bought it from german studio. Looks like it is a Matrix-12 voice chip.
software is 1.2.
Does anybody knows the difference (if any) between 1.4 and 1.6 ?

Ooops, never heard of this,- I did all the available updates in the past and finaly it was:

processor 1.2 / voice 1.4 and cassette 1.0

just found :

http://machines.hyperreal.org/manufacturers/Oberheim/Xpander.Matrix-12/info/Xpander.OS-revisions.txt

you seem to be right it´s a Matrix12 chip ...

http://machines.hyperreal.org/manufacturers/Oberheim/Xpander.Matrix-12/info/matrix12.software.versions.txt

Does it work in the Xpander ???

As far as I know, with it's 1.6 voice version, my XPander is working
like a charm, never get a software crash since 5 years.

My god, perhaps I'm the only XPander user in the world to have an 1.6
in my XP ;)

Hmmm,- so what is it doing different compared to 1.4 in a Xpander ???

I´ve found one annoying issue in 1.4 years ago:

If you are in multi patch mode and have midi CC#7 assigned to "Pedal #1" in the midi page,- if you send a program change and a CC#7 offset value to the Xpander to change multi-patches w/ the right level,- the Xpander shuts down until you move a midi continuous controller pedal or slider w/ CC#7 again. This doesn´t appear in single patch mode.
Is this eventually fixed w/ 1.6 ???

If yes, are the eprom images available for version 1.6 ?
Is the eprom chip itself available anymore ?
Or can someone copy this version 1.6 on a chip for testing eventually ?
I have no Prommer here unfortunally ... :-(

Re: xpander software revisions

I would say there is a high possibility that 1.6 is the same as
1.4..as the matrix had 1.6 and obviously they use the same voice
boards...

what I would do if I had both files would be to look at the data
between 1.6 and 1.4 and see if the checksums are the same. If they
are then they are identical..if not it would be interesting to find
out the differences.

Phil.

I doubt it´s the same because the Matrix 12 has a modulation page w/ dual mode voice detune functions in addition. There must be more code which adresses the 2nd set of voiceboards and the interaction of both,- I guess.

Greg- let us poor 1.4 folks know what it's like "out there" on the
cutting edge ;-)
