ARP Odyssey Problems

2002-11-14 by cyfix_au

Hi, im new to this group but have been collecting keys for some years
and found this group looking for info on an White ARP Odyssey 2800 I
have just acquired. The synth has sat under a bed for at least 10
years and is quite clean and in good condition. However on powering
it up there was no output. Switch lights up and when I opened it up
and checked power supply board I am getting +15v and -15v. All I get
out of the output jacks is a hum. All wiring looks to be intact. Any
ideas where to look now greatly appreciated. Regards, Cy.

If there are 2 output jacks ( Hi and Lo ), try the high.
There may be a resistor soldeded to the other side of the output jack. check it and its connection.

I found a whiteface that I thought I was dead and I bought it for parts.
But it looks like it's a case of really really really really
bad switches and sliders. Have you tried wiggling everything?

Tony, thank you for the reply. Yes, I have wiggled all the pin connectors and did achieve something when i moved the + - 15v socket onto board c. I now have a note when I depress the keys but it is the same note and very low level and nothing changes when I change settings. I will give the boards a spray with a good electronic spray and see if it achieves anything. I would love to get this going again.
Regards, Cy.

Have you tried posting this query to the OdysseyPatch email discussion group? It is specifically set up to address Odyssey discussion. You can find subscription information on the Odyssey Information Resource Web Page:

http://www.overacker.com/ody/index.html

You might even find the info you need right on the web site, since *cough* I designed it myself.

All the best,

Robert, thank you for the reply, I will give it a shot. Since I posted the original query I have had a minor win by spraying the boards with circuit board cleaner spray and now I am getting a constant signal that changes with the keys but at a very low level.
