Hello,

Does anyone have a hammond piper service manual or schematic?

thanks!

Re: Hammond piper

Hi,

Yes, I have that service manual.
But I think there is a few different versions. The one I have is for models 3100, 3200, 727 and 730.

This is a pretty big manual. If you could tell me what circuits you need I could scan them this weekend and send them to you by email.

What is the problem with your Piper?

Hi Nicolas,

Thanks for your answer. The problem is when I turn on the solo instruments, a high frecuency note (E note) came out of the speaker (very soft, but anoying) without touching any key. I did try adjusting some trimers inside but no luck.

By the way, I do not now excetly the model number It says "The piper" Autochord.

Hi Nicolas,

I think I found the model number, is the autocord 730.

Hi,

You probably have some leaky transistor or leaky caps in the solo circuit.
I'm gonna scan the pages related to that section and I'm gonna send them to you this weekend.

I did check almost every component, surely I am missing something.

Thanks for sending the schematics. I really appreciate Nicolas.

Re: [vintagesynthrepair] RE: Re: Hammond piper

2013-09-05 by Roger J

Trimmer adjustment turning , bad idea.

There are four similar circuit boards on a dog house door, two on the inside two in the outside. There is a socket-ed white LSI at right angle to the circuit board on each. Each LSI handles 3 notes, CEF# etc. Remove and re-seat CEF#. The LSI could be swapper with the board next to it. All voltages can be compared to the board next door. There are two zener diodes on each board two near the LSIs. One voltage is -15volts and the other as I recall -7.5volts across. If both zeners are correct and re-seating has not helped, there is a shorted signal diode. Check and compare with another board if value are suspect.

Hi,

I scanned a few files that I thought might be useful to solve this problem. I uploaded them in the files section of this forum. I think the problem might be coming from the voicing board but I might be wrong.

Like I said, this is a pretty big service manual so you might check in the table of contents and the list of illustrations to see if you need some other files in order to solve the problem. I will scan them and upload them.

Hi,

I think I had a similar problem one the piper that I repaired a few years ago.
I think I replaced Q6, Q7 and C37 on the voicing board and D9 and C1 on the power supply board.

Ii's always a good idea to recap the power supply in those old organs.

One note leaking is not on the voice board. It is on the keyer board for that note(each keyer handles 3 pitches for the right hand. Most likely a 1N4144 signal diode. If you wet your finger and place it over the suspected signal diode the leak or cypher will increase. Or use the diode test function on your meter, which should read the same as the other 100 plus diodes at .7xx volts drop.

Also make sure the two zener diodes on each keyer board are correct with 14 volts and 7.5 volts too. Re-seat the LSI. These were the most common failures. And the molex edge connector issues that plagued this era of Hammonds.

Hi Nicolas,

I did try changing caps and transistors from the voicing board without luck. Can you please upload the schematics of the power amp board and the key (E) board?
