Synthi AKS Restoral

Synthi AKS Restoral

2011-06-25 by Doug

I've just been given a rare Synthi AKS by a friend to restore.

There are numerous electronic problems that I have yet to delve into, so I'm certain to have other questions down the road.

At present, I'd like to find a new case, as this one is cracked in a couple places. Failing that, does anyone know of a way to repair that material (ABS, I'm guessing)

I saw an empty synthi a case go on ebay a few months ago for a ridiculous sum.. you need to get in touch with robin at ems; he's known to be slowly working towards meeting a three or four year waiting list for new machines, but certainly has schemos & some NOS parts.

nice project. updates please.

Thanks Duncan,

Robin finally got back to me. He can supply knobs & pots, and even the newer front panel (though it uses a different joystick), but there are no more cases available.

Anyone have hints on how to repair cracks in the cases?

Cheers,

Doug
