Hammond M-3 dead notes

Hammond M-3 dead notes

2008-08-11 by janman30

I thought my previous post about this appeared but I can't find
it ... or maybe I don't know where to look. Anyway ... the M-3 has 4 or
5 dead ones on the first 2 drawbars. 2 the same notes on both manuals,
a couple more only on either but not both. Other questions about the
beast, too, but I'll deal with one at a time. I was on this group a
couple years ago or more when I had a Wurli 200-A. I got good help,
was directed to Morelocks and I was very pleased with their work and
price. Thanks for that help and in advance for suggestions re the
Hammond. Incidentally, I just saw an M-3 at the thrift store for $60.
Don't know if it works. They seem to be going on eBay for a top of 3
to 4 hundred.

I'd LOVE to have a $60 M3, whether it worked or not! (Well, maybe not
if the TG was locked up!) Did it have lotsa broken keys/pedals? Signs
of vermin habitation? Where in MI is the thrift store of which you
speak? If it was in SW MI, & I knew the name of the store I might call
to inquire further...

It's in Muskegon, Jim. A bit of a jaunt from Indiana. It did not look at all beat up. I might go in and ask them to plug it in. I'd buy it except for 2 reasons. Divorce, and it takes 3 men and a boy to move those old Hammonds. If you are seriously interested I will send you the ValueLand phone #.

Thanks, Clif, but I'd better pass that one up. At 250 miles round trip in my truck, gasoline adds $100 to the price. An M3 in good shape is worth that, imho, but I can't spare a whole day right now to pick up such a toy! (Well, I might go I were to ignore a certain 'stabilizing influence' refraining me from such capricious foolery... but if I ingored that influence, then I couldn't buy it for Reason # 1 that you listed...)
