Repairing Korg MiniKorg 700s

2007-07-07 by alpha5000dk

Hi Group!

I've uploaded a couple of pics of my Korg MiniKorg 700s with new wood
side panels in the photo album. Link:
http://launch.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/vintagesynthrepair/photos/browse/8a12

Can't decide if I shall keep them as is, give them laquer or tree
oil. But it surely looks alot nicer, than the old side panels :-)

The synth have one problem thou: the Repeat function doesn't work.
Has anybody have the same problem with their MiniKorg, and will it be
difficult to fix?

I've seen a couple of MiniKorg's on the net with the same problem, so
it could look like a weak spot, this great lil' synth have ;-)

Hope to hear from some MiniKorg Owners out there :-)

Greetings

Your minikorg looks great with these new side panels -
probably I should do the same with my two Minikorgs
(700 and 700s). The original panels are a bit
scratched.
I don't have and never had a problem with the repeat
function on both of my Minikorg (and also not on the
Maxikorg and M500). Everything works as it should.
For your synth: Check the schematics - maybe with a
tech - there are several possible reasons why it
didn't work.

Yes, you should invest in some new wood side panels.
I feels actually like the lil' beast is sounding even better than
before ;-D

Hello there,

Have you managed to fix your Repeat function?

I had the same problem with mine.

I think something must've shorted when I was working on that circuit
board. If you're not careful, its easy to touch the row of connections
to the metal chassis.

Anyway, I'd love to know if you still need any help. I've just (three
days ago) finished completing the repairs on my Minikorg 2, after two
years of it being partially functional.

I have many resources and documents that may be of service to you. And
I can possibly help you troubleshoot your Repeater.

I actually had new wood panels made for my Minikorg 2 by
CustomSynth.co.uk, by the way.

I have one lingering problem with my Minikorg.. The three switches on
the left-hand side of the top panel (effect, sustain long, and travel
vibrato) have been broken since I got the synthesizer.. Do you know of
any replacement source?
