Dear friends, I own a Solina String Ensemble and I have to replace 2 op amp LM709C. Since it's difficult to find the original part that has 14 pin, do you know if it's possible substitute it with the 8 pin version on LM709C op amp ? Are they equivalent ? thanks.

As long as I know, 8pins and 14 pins op amp aren't pin to pin compliant! Have a look at any electronic comp. sellor's catalog, you'll find 14 pins op amp that can replace the 709 (even being more performant for noise and speed. Where are you living? I'm in France and I think I amy still have a little stock of old 14p op amp I'll not use anylonger... jean-marie Selon vscrivan <vscrivan@...>:

Have a look at this link : http://www.selectronic.fr/upload/produit/pagecatalogue/3-33.pdf in the left column, the fifth item in "standard op". these op amps are still findable in 14pins package. Selon jm leman <leman@...>:

Hi, thanks for your reply. If you read the Datasheet of lm709 at http://www.national.com/ds/LM/LM709.pdf you will see that the lm 709 cn/14 and lm 709 cn/8 have same specifications and data and that, if you mount the 8 pin version starting from the 3rd line of the of the 14 pin socket (pin 1/8 --> pin 3/14, 2/8 -->4/14, ....pin 8/8 --> pin 12/14) there is a correspondence pin to pin. Can you confirm it ? thanks ----- Original Message ----- From: "jm leman" <leman@...> To: <vintagesynthrepair@yahoogroups.com>; "jm leman" <leman@...> Cc: <vintagesynthrepair@yahoogroups.com>; "vscrivan" <vscrivan@...>

Hi Valerio, You're right, it seems you can use a 8 pins instead of the 14p. Take care to insert the 8p at the right place and maybe you can have a look at the p.c. board to see if other pins are or not connected to somewhere... Selon Valerio Scrivano <vscrivan@...>:

Ok, other pins are not connected. I'll try it and let you know. ----- Original Message ----- From: "jm leman" <leman@...> To: <vintagesynthrepair@yahoogroups.com>; "Valerio Scrivano" <vscrivan@...> Cc: "jm leman" <leman@...>; <vintagesynthrepair@yahoogroups.com>
