SH-101

2006-04-06 by alpha5000dk

Hi everybody!

Yesterday I finally got me a Roland SH-101. Nice little beast I think ;-)

Unfortunately the pitch bender is broken and needs replacement.
Has anybody in here ever tried to replace it? Is it difficult?

I've found a replacement kit on Ebay. It is a clear bender with blue light. Not from Roland
but a re-produced one. Though I would prefer an genuine Roland pitch bender, I realize it
is difficult to find one, and probably I will have to buy the clear one.

Also the gray cabinet on my little synth is no longer gray because of smoke. Anybody with
experience in cleaning it?

Any help will be appriciated :-)

Cheers

Ok here's one for you...just picked up an SH-101..it's playing an
octave higher than it should...not looked at much yet. Any ideas? The
range and the octave switches work fine, it just goes up an octave
higher than it should and so won't go as low as it should. It's not
calibration. It's a fault..I think..haha unless they made some
SH-101's that go ultra high?

Phil.

Just to add to the diagnosis...I have another SH-101 so I tested
playing the bad one using CV and Gate out of the good one. It still
pays an octave too high using external CV and Gate..However if you use
the bad one to play the good one it plays it in the correct pitch...

You can internally tune the 101 down (or up an octave)..

Check out the service manual.
