I saw an ad for a Korg Polysix, but the guy selling it says it doesn't power up. He says the battery hasn't leaked yet (which I will definetly replace if I do get it), and the power LED comes on. What's the problem?

My immediate guess is that the fuse within the unit has blown. If so you need to know why! Regards Brian G3OYU _____

Good, that should be no problem! What type of fuse should I get?
2005-02-10 by Brian Davies
An identical one to the one already in there! Without the circuit diagram I cannot possibly advise you. Please do understand that this is not the only possibility, for example a blown mains transformer would also give the same symptoms, although somewhat unlikely. However always look for the simple cause first, such as another possibility of a broken wire. I'm afraid you have to get inside and search around. One tip have a sniff around the unit - literally - if the mains transformer has blown it is likely to have a smell of burning. Brian _____

OK, I just got an email back from the seller. He says that the power light doesn't come on, but there's a little light inside the synth near the power supply that lights up when turned on.
2005-02-12 by Brian Davies
If the power light fails to illuminate then either the mains lead is faulty, the plug and or socket is faulty or the switch is faulty or as I said before the fuse is blown. Brian _____

There are two small fuses on the KLM-370 power supply board. Be sure to check those. They are 1-Amp, 250V miniature types as found at Radio Shack, etc. They are not the 1-1/4" version like the mains fuse on the transformer board. Make sure both of the KLM-370 fuses are good-- if the power LED on the KLM-370 lights then at least one fuse is good, but both need to be intact to operate the rest of the machine. Crow /**/
