Roland EP-7 piano - any tips on key contact cleaning?

Roland EP-7 piano - any tips on key contact cleaning?

2004-05-03 by Dave Penniless

I just acquired an EP-7 digital piano. Overall does
what it's supposed to do, but two keys will only sound
when struck quite vigorously - and then, of course,
they're LOUD.

I'm hoping this is a simple case of contacts needing
some cleaning. Am I on the right track? Are these
metal contacts or some sort of conductive rubber?
Appreciate advice on recommended cleaning chemicals.

I'm experienced at doing electronic repair, but not a
controller for a keyboard.

Thanks in advance....

WCB Dave

hi,
i bought an alpha juno 1 about 3 months ago and i had
a similar problem. one of the keys would not play
(regardless of how hard i struck it). what i did was
cafefully take unscrew the bottom of the synth and i
was able to dislodge the malfuncting key. upon taking
it out i wiped off the key's and the internal
hardware's cotact. this worked perfectly for me. if
you need any further explenation of anything else.
tell me.

Tom, thanks for that.

Did you use any sort of cleaning fluid, or did you just wipe with a
soft cloth?

Thanks..Dave

when i cleaned my key off, i just used a piece of
toilette paper. now when i cleaned my linndrum that
was a more serious and arduous endeavor.
