This is 1995 or 1996 vintage digital Pno. When performing it occassionally produces a "loud burst of sound." The key(s) making the sound are not always the same. Any ideas? Thanks Humphries

Could be intermittent bad key contacts or the rubber contact strips breaking down and developing cracks, or it could be something in one of the keyer microprocessors going flaky. How creative are you in trying new things? Keith Niver certified MITA tech.

Kieth Niver: Thanks for the response. I am comfortable in opening up the piano and making repairs/adjustments, etc. Suggestions? Humphries

"How creative are you in trying new things?" Keith, I am willing to try anything you suggest. I am comfortable making simple repairs, etc. I do not have electronic testing equipment but willing to purchase if necessary. My last "repairs" were to a Thomas Organ in the 80's and was successful. Thank you for any suggestions. Well, the first thing I would probably check would be the key contact strips, but if it's different notes causing the problem, it could be bad solder connections on the plugs from the keyboard to the main board or scanner board. It would mean getting the keyboard loose so you could flip it over and do some checking on it and also pulling out at least of the keys to check the rubber key contact strips, usually 12 note strips. I would probably pull out a dozen or so keys, remove the contact strips, clean the strips and carefully clean the board, check the solder connections on the plugs and reinstall the strips and keys and check things. Also, does it seem like every one or two of a group of six or eight notes makes the problem? If so, it sounds like a possible scanner IC problem. Do you have a service manual? Keith Niver
