I have a Moog Source I pulled out of 10 year storage to tinker with. Well, a few things wrong with it, but nothing major.
I cleaned U3 - the "Crazy Source" problem.
Put Arctic Silver 2 under each of the pieces that looked like U3 on the power board. Seemed to work OK. Put Arctic Silver 5 under the power board heat sink and it's still pretty warm when I play it for a while.
Did I make a mistake by using the wrong Arctic Silver? I use Silver 2 on a CPU and cooled it off nicely. (I have a feeling I screwed up.)
I reseated all of the jumpers, plugs and so forth like the ones on the power board and the film cables to the top side controller. All looked pretty good. Sounds good also!
It plays "OK", both Levels, but the back side by the power board is pretty warm. The transformer doesn't seem hot.
I'm not a keyboard tech, but can strip computers and put them back again. I can do some low grade soldering and so forth. I decided to try this project because it looked fairly easy.
Any ideas would be appreciated. I like this little fella and would hate to lose it, even though I have tonnage of VST(i) stuff. Not the same!
Thanks...
Tracy
