Korg Poly-800mkII // Constant Clock/Digital Line Noise

2014-03-25 by <quiet_channel@...>

Hello!
The audio output of my Korg Poly-800 mkII has quite a high noise-to-signal ratio. I have listened closely and it does not seem to be related to the white noise generator, but more like clock/digital noise bleeding into the audio path.

No parameters or delay settings have any effect on this line noise, and it is present on the headphone and line outputs, not at the same exact dB level, but equal relative to the audio level. The noise is much more prominent as soon as any note is depressed and drops to a much lower level when the synth's noise gate closes (usually a second or two after the end of the DCO/VCF envelopes and any delay trails), but it can be heard constantly as a quiet broad-spectrum hiss/hum.

Are all Poly-800 mkII's like this?

There must be a way to improve the signal-to-noise-ratio, right?

I eagerly await your reply!
Thank you!
- Robert
