I have seen lots of this. Usually it is:
a. Some front panel pots sending out noise, which the computer interprets as lots of data and the scanning cycle get overloaded, or
b. Some of the multiplexing chips are disfunctional, and overloads the cumputer.
Obviously, in point a you need to locate the scratchy pots causing trouble, and in point b debugged and locate erronious chips.
There is also a YouTube vid concerning this problem...... searching ....

Hi all.
I just bought a prophet 5 rev 3.2 for a "good" price, and it needed a bit of care. 5 broken knobs, a bit of power supply stuff that needed working through, (regulators and caps), and some basic maintenance stuff were the biggest issues...Anyhow, I got new knobs from Wine Country Productions, who are great, super nice, and very helpful, and worked out the power supply, changed the battery, loaded the factory patches onto the synth, and fired her up, and she works beautifully, everything is functional, etc, except the lights still flicker and the amp envelope still doesn't really work as it should... AKA not at all... Well actually the attack and decay are fine, but the sustain and release are not really utile. This is a big functional issue. What have I missed? Is it a connector issue? I am stumped...Thanks!!!
