Moog Source LFO/Clock Troubles

2013-08-24 by Paul Krull

Hi Folks:
I just picked up my Moog Source
that’s been languishing at American Music Seattle for 8 MONTHS where it went in for battery replacement and calibration with the
expectation that it was more or less fully functional. After running it through
some paces I find there are no clock functions for the arpeggiator or sequencer
and no signs of life from the LFO: no lights from the frequency indicator L.E.D.
and trying to modulate either the filter or the pitch with the wheel gives me
only the amount of modulation from the mod wheel with no LFO frequency
mod added. I see the panel responds to my selecting LFO waveforms and changing frequency but no LFO clock signal seems to be triggered.
My question is: is there any
possible mode I might be in that would account for this behavior and is there a
reset for the Source that might help? Is there a simple ribbon connector that the pinheads who were supposed to be fixing it might've neglected to plug in or that could've come unplugged somehow?
I am officially at the end of my
rope on getting gear fixed in Seattle.

Thanks,
       Paul
